Edinbane Lightning Damage

We were asked to deploy staff to carry out repairs on the 132kV OHL in Skye following adverse weather. Particulars of the damage were unknown, however a work team, armed with appropriate equipment, was mobilised. It was discovered that lightning had struck a pole on one side of an H pole structure.

With the necessary equipment ‘to hand’ and the NorPower work team’s experience, it was a fairly ‘run of the mill’ job to promptly replace the damaged pole to enable restoration of supply.
