Trainee Overhead Lineworker

NORPOWER is an overhead line business through which VINCI Energies undertakes its Transmission & Distribution activities. NORPOWER specialise in the design, supply, installation, maintenance and commissioning of electrical infrastructures for a varied range of electricity utility companies and renewable energy developers throughout the UK and Ireland. Due to continued growth, we require additional, full time Trainee Lineworkers to join our overhead line site teams.

The Role

Reporting to the Foreman/Chargehand, the Trainee Lineworker will be trained in the construction and refurbishment of high voltage steel tower and wood pole transmission overhead power lines whilst ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and productivity.

The jobholder will be working on site full time under the supervision of an experienced construction team and will be expected to travel to various site locations throughout the UK, particularly the Scottish Highlands and Islands.

Lineworkers are often required to work in remote locations, in challenging terrain and in all weathers.

Successful candidates will have a willing work ethic and take pride in providing a high standard of work and service, applying a flexible, ‘can do’ attitude whilst maintaining a strong, conscientious focus on the safety of themselves, colleagues and others.

Skills Profile

Full training will be provided however, Trainee Lineworkers should have the following skills, knowledge and abilities: –

Ability to travel to work locations throughout the whole of the UK,

Physically fit and able to work at height under strict safety rules,

Ability to work in physically demanding environments in all weathers,

Effective communication skills,

Effective team worker,

Trustworthy, punctual, and dependable,

Full UK driving license is preferred but not essential,

Experience of working outdoors and/or in construction is desirable but not essential,

Overhead Lineworkers must be over 18.
