In 2015 the Aberdeen Western Bypass road resulted in the need for diversions of four individual sections of the Aberdeen 132kV overhead line.
A diversion in the Kingswells area required the construction of a new, modified L4m SF60 STD steel tower and the removal of the existing tower.
Diversion of the 132kV wood pole line (CF circuit) at Sunnyside required replacement of two wood poles with two modified failure containment wood poles. This also involved alterations to the existing fibre optic network.
0.4 km of Trident wood pole line was required to provide a diversion for one circuit while a terminal tower with double sealing end platforms was constructed at the River Dee crossing. Due to the high water table levels a raft foundation was designed and installed. In addition a flood protection barrier was installed to protect the new foundation. Dismantling works will be undertaken by the end of October.
A second diversion to the CF circuit near the village of Cookney required erection of 2 four member structures and 2 new section angle poles.
